Which Oil Is Right for Your Vehicle?

Most newer vehicles require full-synthetic oil, which provides better protection at high temperatures, improved cold-start performance, and longer service intervals. Older vehicles or those with higher mileage may use synthetic-blend or conventional oil. We always use the viscosity grade and oil type specified by your vehicle's manufacturer — never a one-size-fits-all approach.

How Often Should You Change Your Oil?

Follow the interval recommended in your owner's manual. Many modern vehicles using full-synthetic oil can go 7,500 to 10,000 miles between changes, while older vehicles or those using conventional oil typically need changes every 3,000 to 5,000 miles. Severe driving conditions — frequent short trips, stop-and-go traffic, extreme heat, or dusty environments — may require more frequent service.

Drivers from Oxon Hill, Clinton, Temple Hills, and Accokeek trust MZ Auto Repair for oil changes because we are fast, fairly priced, and we never try to sell services your vehicle does not need. Our shop is located at 9500 Allentown Rd in Fort Washington, MD.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does an oil change take?

Call 301-248-2800 or book online and we will tell you what to expect for your vehicle. If we spot anything that needs attention during a visual check, we will tell you before doing extra work.

Do you use synthetic oil?

Yes. We offer full-synthetic, synthetic-blend, and conventional oil. We use the type and viscosity recommended by your vehicle manufacturer to ensure proper protection.

Can I switch from conventional to synthetic oil?

Yes. Switching to synthetic oil is safe for virtually all engines and can provide better protection. There is no need to flush the system — we simply drain the old oil and fill with synthetic on your next change.

What happens if I go too long between oil changes?

Old oil breaks down and loses its ability to lubricate and cool engine components. Over time, this can cause sludge buildup, increased wear, overheating, and eventually serious engine damage that is expensive to repair.
